Power Restored to Harwell Campus and Chilton Area

Update 21:30 - Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) has confirmed that power has been restored to all properties, on and off the Campus, who had been affected by today's power supply failure.

SSEN engineers have been working since the fault occurred this morning to make the site safe and restore power.

The Harwell Campus Management team will remain in contact with SSEN engineers over the weekend and continue to monitor the situation.

Power Restored to Chilton Area But Some Parts of Harwell Campus Remain Without Power.

Update 16:30 – Scottish and Southern Electricity Network (SSEN) engineers have been working throughout the day to restore the power to part of the Campus and Chilton area which have been affected by today’s unexpected incident at a substation located on the Campus.

SSEN has stated that 449 of their 515 customers affected have had their power restored – these are largely the houses in the Chilton area. SSEN are working to restore power, or provide alternative power supply, to the remainder of the buildings affected.

As of 10.00 - SSE Power Failure Affects Some Areas of Harwell Campus and the Chilton area

Due to a power failure fault in a Scottish Southern Electric (SSE) primary substation located on the Campus parts of Harwell Campus and the Chilton area are currently experiencing power loss. SSE engineers are on site and working to remedy the problem as quickly as possible to bring power supply back

The Harwell Campus management team will remain in contact with SSE to understand their timelines. Currently SEE is not able to provide an estimated time for the resumption of power so we urge all occupiers to visit the https://www.ssen.co.uk/harwell/ to dial 105 for updates.
