We are currently looking for an enthusiastic leader to join us as an Engineering Team Leader within our ISIS Neutron and Muon Source Facility. The role will see the successful applicant lead a team of very motivated engineers, delivering sophisticated multidisciplinary systems to a world-class science facility. Are you someone with a sound mechanical engineering background and experience in designing and building bespoke, one-off engineering systems?
A Specialist Allowance of up to £5000 per annum is also available for this role.
About the role
You will work closely with our science teams, interpreting their requirements and turning them into engineering reality! You will be responsible for leading and supporting a team of engineers to deliver highly sophisticated equipment in an outstanding, science led environment.
Further responsibilities include:
- Collecting and agreeing the top level requirements from our internal customers.
- Developing high level concept designs.
- Identifying the different systems needed and work with technical specialists to refine solutions.
- Lead on complex procurements of high value items and take ownership for the overall project management of the engineering being delivered.

We need someone who wants to make a difference, by pushing past our current high standards, keeping ISIS at the cutting edge of neutron instrument design.
You will ideally hold degree in mechanical engineering or a good quality HNC with associated experience. You will be experienced in a broad range of engineering, with a desire to learn and gain an understanding across a wide variety of technical fields. You should have experience in running small to medium teams, along with development of the staff within the teams.
