Android Developer

We are seeking an experienced Android Developer to take on an exciting role within our Front-End IT team and join us on a permanent basis to develop mobile apps for healthcare. Our iOS and Android apps are native (Swift and Kotlin, respectively).

SUMMARY 

Location: based at least 2 days per week at our headquarters at Harwell Campus (Didcot, Oxfordshire, UK - https://www.harwellcampus.com), with remote working in the other days

Contract type: full-time, permanent, salary level indicatively between £30,000 - £45,000 yearly gross (to be defined depending on candidate’s experience)

POSITION

We are seeking an experienced Android Developer to take on an exciting role within our Front-End IT team and join us on a permanent basis to develop mobile apps for healthcare. Our iOS and Android apps are native (Swift and Kotlin, respectively).

The Android Developer is expected to undertake a pivotal role in our apps development process. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing start-up company and make a real impact on its success.

The ideal candidate should be able to autonomously perform the work following best practices for software design, performance optimisation, scalability, reliability and testing, have a proven track record of building and maintaining mobile apps on the market. The candidate, reporting to our Lead Front-End Developer, is also expected to leverage their experience to contribute to our whole software development life-cycle (design, development, testing).

The candidate can expect to earn a competitive salary, yearly reviewed considering the company’s business results.

 

Responsibilities:  

·       Develop high-quality native Android mobile apps

·       Collaborate both with the Technical team (UI/UX designers, Back-End SW engineers, QA testers, R&D researchers) and with the Commercial team for developing market-ready mobile apps

·       Gather and proactively address technical & design requirements

·       Follow emerging technologies worldwide, actively supporting the innovation of our apps

·       Write and review complete documentation during all software development life-cycle phases

 

Skills & Experience:

Required  

 

·       More than 3 years prior working experience developing native Android apps

·       Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related subjects

·       Good experience of native development in Java/Kotlin (Android)

·       Web service integration (REST, JSON, etc…)

·       Knowledge as well as use of third-party libraries

·       Management of listings and releases using Google Play

·       Working knowledge of version control in Bitbucket and/or Git

·       Experience of Architecture/Design patterns and their application to Android development

·       Experience of a development process such as Test-Driven Development

·       Knowledge and experience of app security & data protection and their implementation

·       Teamwork skills with a problem-solving attitude

·       Good written and verbal communication skills

·       Eligible to live and work in the UK

 

Nice to have

·       Strong experience using recent Android framework versions

·       Experience with the Jetpack framework

·       Experience of working in an Agile environment, e.g. Scrum

·       Experience of writing Unit and UI Tests

·       Experience with CI and CD practices

·       Experience of task/ticket management tools such as Jira
