Salary £26,399 to £31,058 per annum, dependent upon skills and experience

About the Role
We now have an opportunity for an experienced Electrical Technician to work on a number of X-ray Imaging beamlines. You will join an experienced team of highly skilled mechanical and electrical technicians supporting our scientists to install, commission, and operate the world-leading instrumentation and associated facilities used by international scientists.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Maintain the equipment and working with the beamline scientists in designing and installing new components.
· Helping beamline users in preparing and setting up their experiments.
· Providing support during the installation and commissioning of new equipment and with subsequent operations.
· Your duties will focus on the development of the facilities and assistance with the day-to-day operation.
You should have served a recognised Apprenticeship in an appropriate Engineering discipline, and to have gained a minimum of HNC qualification. We’ll also consider you if you have relevant or equivalent on-the job experience.
You should have BS7671 Wiring Regulations Qualification or equivalent knowledge.
You will have experience with LV Electrical systems and a familiarity with using Safe Systems or work, permits, risk assessments etc. Useful experience: The wiring and installation of complete electrical control systems, including PLC’s and controllers, crimping and soldering of various types of connectors, cable production and installation, machine and equipment wiring, control panel and
19-inch rack building, with fault finding and testing skills, would be useful.
You’ll be computer literate with good problem-solving skills and are an effective team worker.
