About the Role
Insertion Devices (IDs) are permanent magnet arrays which form the main light generators in the facility. They combine high precision assembly techniques with robust structures and precision motion not unlike large machine tools.
A senior mechanical project engineer reports to the head of the ID group and leads a small engineering team in the design, build and testing of IDs. The successful candidate will have an established record in high precision engineering showing technical leadership in mechanical design, finite element analysis, project management and be committed to health and safety best practice and familiar with the Machinery Directive.
