Strategy, Planning and Communications bring together the core functions needed to help the organisation shape, communicate and monitor our national and international strategic agenda. The Corporate Strategy and Impact Team leads on STFC’s strategic planning, impact reporting and evaluation activities.

You will be responsible for demonstrating the economic and societal benefits from investment in research and innovation. You will also be responsible for carrying out impact evaluations and developing benefits realisation and monitoring and evaluation plans for key STFC investments. You will have proven experience in these areas, preferably in a research or innovation context.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing key projects which evaluate STFC’s programmes in response to Government requirements, including impact evaluation studies
• Working with colleagues across the organisation, developing benefits realisation, monitoring and evaluating plans as part of new project development, and building awareness of the importance of planning for evaluation from the outset of a project
• Working with internal and external stakeholders, research and write reports, studies and case studies which demonstrate the output and impact of STFC’s programmes
• Managing consultants to deliver evaluations on behalf of the organisation including specifying work, tendering for studies and on-going management and delivery of key evaluations

It is essential that you are educated to Degree level, or able to demonstrate equivalent experience, you will have experience of operating in an evaluation role and delivering evaluation studies, preferably with experience of benefits realisation, monitoring and evaluation and different evaluation methodologies.

You will have excellent communication skills, particularly experience of producing high quality written reports and presentations. You will also have excellent project management and interpersonal skills and have experience of building strong working relationships within and outside of your organisation.
