We are seeking for an enthusiastic junior scientist to take on an exciting role within our R&D team concerning the use of Atmospheric Science for healthcare-oriented applications. The R&D Intern will apply physical modelling and data analytics techniques to developing/improving new algorithms and methodologies. In particular, the R&D Intern will collaborate to the development of innovative techniques for the real-time monitoring & forecasting of spectral solar radiation and of its effects on healthcare. This will be mainly performed by applying atmospheric radiative transfer modelling both to Earth Observation satellites data and to Numerical Weather Predictions (NWP) models/data.
The work performed by the R&D Intern will be extremely relevant for the development of the innovative digital solutions of siHealth dedicated to sun-related healthcare, like the HappySun technology (www.happysun.co.uk) and its commercial applications (e.g. mobile apps for sunburn avoidance and vitamin D sufficiency). The R&D Intern will develop algorithms and software for elaborating mainly satellite & NWP data, modelling the spectral solar radiation and its effects on healthcare. The R&D Intern will research, design, develop and verify data analysis systems, participating also in both the requirements definition and in the sub-systems architecture design.
Skills & Experience
• MSc in a scientific discipline, like Physics or Mathematics (also in progress);
• Experience in atmospheric physics and data analytics;
• Experience with computer programming and/or scripting languages (Python, MATLAB, C/C++);
• Eligible to live and work in the UK.
