Harwell has excellent sports pitches and a well-appointed sports pavilion, as well as a number of connecting cycle paths and running/walking routes around and into the campus. See here for a map of the different cycle routes available.
There are numerous links to The Ridgeway, known as Britain’s oldest road, and the Berkshire Downs. Surfaces vary from tarmac to tar spray to gravel chippings to limestone dust, but are designed for easy riding throughout.
There is also a Harwell Running Club Oxford Fusion where a group of people run at lunchtime and welcome fellow runners.
The Harwell Laboratories Recreation Association (HLRA) is a voluntary organisation that runs the facilities for Harwell Campus. All personnel employed at Harwell can join the HLRA for a small annual subscription and thereby have access to all the clubs above and to possibly set up their own hobby/club if they wish.
There are many Sports & Clubs run by HLRA including: Archery, Cricket, Croquet, Evening League Cricket, Football, 6-a-side Football, Rounders, Rugby, Running, Tennis, Volleyball, Yoga, Aunt Sally. Archery (Harlequin Bowmen)
HARLEQUIN BOWMEN are affiliated to the Grand National Archery Association, the Southern Counties Archery Society and the Berkshire Archery Association.
Harwell International Cricket Club plays Saturday OCA league games, Wednesday evening T20 Berkshire Downs League games and 40-over friendlies on Sundays.
Both Association and Golf Croquet are played all year round. The club takes part in leagues, friendlies and internal events. Times vary during the year.

Evening Cricket League
8-a-side league that takes place on mid-week evenings during the summer. Entries from units on the Harwell Oxford Campus are encouraged. Players wishing to join a team can also get in touch.
The annual Harwell Summer Rounders tournament takes place from May to August at lunchtime (12.30pm). Team entries from across the Harwell and Rutherford campuses are invited.
Harwell RFC runs teams in the English Clubs Championship, South West Competitions BBO Leagues. Training takes place on Thursday evenings adjacent to the main pitch. New players always welcome.
