Cookies can be useful because they allow a website to recognise a user’s device. They are widely used in order to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site. Without cookies or some other similar method, websites would have no way to ‘remember’ anything about visitors, such as how many items are in a shopping basket or whether they are logged in.

This 90-minute course will provide insight into how you can ensure that your cookies are in compliance with the UK GDPR and the Privacy Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). You will learn

  • Key definitions, including what is a cookie.
  • The legal frameworks that apply to cookies.
  • The difference between essential and non-essential cookies.
  • What is meant by cookie consent?
  • Key questions to form a cookie audit.
  • Examples of good and bad cookie banners.

The course will use examples to bring the course material to life. We have built-in time for delegates to ask questions, as well as a number of test questions to see if the material is being understood.

All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance following the completion of the course.
